I think MyWoosh is still free if it has the features you want (and don't mind a bit of sportswashing).

Bonkers increase !  MyWhoosh is free. Not as slick as Zwift, but it's free.

Next, just like Zwift when they recently hiked their monthly subs up, they will try and justify the 38.5% increase by saying something like "we've not increased subs for years."

But a year on year inflation based increase (without the recent mobile trick of inflation plus approx 4%), would be more like sub 3% per year on average since their last price increase and would come nothing close to this hike.

I hope they lose a load of subs, end up with less revenue from those that stay and others go elsewhere like MyWhoosh.

Forgot to mention Watt Games, on my watchlist for a while on Steam, came out recently and is a one off fee of £20.99!

Recently renewed our Duo membership... unlikely to do so again though. Can't bring myself to use MyWhoosh. Maybe Trainingpeaks Virtual next time?

So I've paid monthly up to now, but they will let you take an annual sub at the existing price and you can pause your account once "For up to 180 days once in a calendar year" (I'm currently paused) and you can take an annual sub now that starts at the end of your paused period.

I'm reading that as I can pause it again for next summer and effectively get the next two winters at current pricing.

in theory I get 15% off the annual price as well at level 1 loyalty (which increases to 25% over a couple of years)

While you're paused you can buy a 24 hour pass for £3 at the moment so if you're only using it less than a couple of times a week (and I use it far less than that over summer) it's better value than a sub, and if you really want to you can do an evening and a morning ride so get two days use from it.

So it still feels better value than the shock that came when I first read the email.

I tried Rouvy after cancelling Zwift when they upped their prices, never got on with Rouvy and after not using it for a few months and paying them, cancelled not so long ago. If I hadnt, this would have been the final nail in the coffin.

Actually kinda miss the zwift music, will likely end up back there this autumn/winter!

Not sure when it will go fully live but I am Beta testing a new package which is very much like Zwift and I think will be a lot cheaper as they think Rouvy's price hike is too high.

Still liking TrainingPeaks Virtual here, £130 annually - so equivalent of £10.80 per month and you get all the TrainingPeaks Premium features if they're of any interest to you.

This reminds me that I must cancel Rouvy. I tried it when they took over FulGaz and were threatening to merge the two but couldn’t get on with the rides filmed from a car and the general gamification so I suspended it. Now that FulGaz has had a reprieve I’ll stick with that at least until my annual subscription runs out, although no doubt that will have a price rise soon too.

Honestly the best thing I found when I ditched Zwift was just using the free training plans on Garmin, letting my edge tell me to go to the garage every couple of days and have it drive the trainer. no booting up a computer or faffing about getting the PC to see sensors, etc. I just bung on some music or a podcast and get on with things...

Unless you really enjoy the pretend races (for which zwift appears to be most popular platform still) then I reckon it´s worth just letting your head unit beast you through turbo sessions.
