I am planning to do this ride on a trip to Skye next month but have to be honest I don't know what the route is!

Does anyone know it and ideally have a map/gpx/kml they could share.

I think it is about a 12km route but would ride further so long as it is all good stuff!

i noticed http://ridewithgps.com now has some new map view options with paths etc.. quite cool.

anyway you ride along the top then back the bottom, or the other way round i suppose, but the best bit by far is down to the road, which isn't much of a loop..

I've drawn some sort of map which gives you the idea (computer issues means no gpx files). We did it clockwise, starting at the car park at Digg so the climb was done at the start. I suppose you could do it the other way - dont know how it would roll.

Fantastic loop for a couple of hours - get the heart racing!

Sure you could extend it, but there are no marked trails on the map. Have a look in a walking guide for paths which might run in from the south.

As I am sure you know, also do the Sligachan circuit - about 50 km of epic wilderness riding!

The route is as ahsat has shown, little frustrating as the route to the south and east of that map is just road ..

When I rode it I did it as an out and back parking up at Dunans and starting from there .. climbing out to end of off road then turning round and descending.. wasn't that keen on doing road sections.

There is a decent size gully I remember on the route .. It was hammering with rain and I was on my own so I think that was the point I turned round and rode back to car..

Its an amazing place and excellent riding.

Just follow the signs for the Quirang car park and the route is really obvious. It's not very long, but is incredibly spectacular. Pretty scary too in quite a few sections (I walked a fair bit, being a bit of a scaredy cat).

Don't forget a camera too, the scenery is amazing.

I walked that path a few months back. It is indeed stunning and I did think to myself how cool it would be to ride some of it. That pic up there is missing a fair few sections where you'd have to get off and carry the bike. There were a couple of gullies where I had to use both hands to scramble up the other side. Would be interesting with a bike ๐Ÿ˜•

Very true - that picture is the 'easy' bit, with the big drop on the side!

Would be interesting with a bike
Was def better with two of us to pass bikes between - not sure I would want to do it on my own.
