Great day. Beautiful weather.
Managed a spazzy crash in a bog!

Some of the climbs were just impossible, but the descents for great!

the 1st and 2nd pic are my idea of hell, like being stuck on the M5/M6 juction in the rush hour, the third looks much better, but each to their own, i bet you had a great time

congestion was an issue, caused a few problems too.
There was a bit of a tangle on the bottom of the first descent - no injuries, but I heard something about a bent £500 derailleur?!

Lots of the climbs there are only two or three lines up, so mixing slow/fast, patient/impatient people led to a few abrupt stops.

After the first water stop it really thinned out a bit, and by lunch it was fine.

What's rough about that?

Well apart from the boredome. 😉

what's a bore dome?

you'll be glad you did some rad single track descents today; on your fixed, rigid and singlespeed bike, especially with that frame from a little niche manufacturer, won't you? 😉

A bore dome is a large featureless grass climb followed by a featureless smooth grass descent. 🙄 😉

No ss/fixed/rigid for me today. Been out on the freeridemaxshittingdogtothepowerofsickbike.

We did ride a small section of none singletrack in honour of the smoothride though. 😆

To be fair, the descents were all pretty good.
One was a pretty steep and rocky, down to a stream, then a technical climb out, nice.

The main draw of the event is nice scenery, relaxed atmosphere, not a race. It's a good level for people to get into long distance riding. But not too easy for more experienced types either.

I agree with rocketdog. I've just been for an early evening ride on the surrey hills and there was barely a sole around. That looks really annoying!

Last time we did it we were forced to stop and have a few herbal performance decreasers just to relieve the bore dome

BTW did Graham win again?

Great day out. Crowds at the start were a pain but the climbs soon thinned things out. Quite chuffed I managed it on the ss. Hot, but not as hot as last year.
