Building up some DH/uplift wheels at the moment and need some rotors. I'm running Formula RO's and need some 6 bolt 203mm rotors. I've got 3 options as I'm looking to spend no more than £25..

1: Used Hope V2 Floaters @ £22
2: Ashima Airotor from Merlin @ £10 each
3: Superstar Vibe/Wave @ £12.99 each

What would you buy?

Avoid airotors, they donw work in all brakes and are underpowered in others, I made that mistake, relegated to the weightwenie bike.

I've used Airotors and no issues with brakes with big pads (like R0s) but they don't work well with small pads (like my old Oros). But, they're more delicate than a typical steel rotor so wouldn't be going near a dh bike for me.

I might possibly be able to do you 2 used 203s for £25- one Formula and one Hayes? Need to have a look when I get home

Airotors didn't work great with my old shimanos, when I swapped a standard rotor for an airotor there definitely felt like less power, new shimanos which seem to be a lot more powerful (only ridden once so far) I don't notice a lack of power.

Not a big fan of floating rotors and no idea about superstar.

For Dh I'd probably look out for some shimano or other "standard" rotors on sale.

I would not buy used Hope floaters. Wouldn't buy new ones with a warranty either tbh, they were too much hassle but used ones, hell no. I got both of mine replaced on warranty twice.

The SS ones you mention are good and solid.

Pretty sure I've run them with Formula brakes using that pad design and they're been fine.

I had some Ashima airotors for a couple of rides, seemed to eat my pads, were noisy and didn't do much in the way of slowing me down. Probably ok on a weight weenie xc bike ridden only in the dry. Nice and light though!

What would you buy?

out of the three choices it would be the superstars as I would never buy used rotors and wouldn't use the ashima's for commuting let alone DH.
