Are they all the same thickness? For example will a pair of Deore 160mm rotors work with Hayes 9 calipers?
Funny you should ask...I was SAD enough to measure rotor thickness last night with some digital calipers:
Avid - 1.80
Formula - 1.75
Alligator - 1.74
didnt have a shimano rotor about but it'll be in same ballpark.
HTH
As long as the diameter is right they will work.Thickness doesn't really matter(unless it's silly thick, which I doubt),think what happens when the pads start to wear down.....
When you say thickness, do you mean the depth of the braking track?
Fenred, not sad, more of a public service.
onza, I have no idea what you are on about?
If you were to look at a hope m4 rotor and a hope c2 rotor, you could have both in 185mm diameter. The rotor would be 2mm thick. However, due to the difference in piston and pad size, one would have a deep braking track, about 22mm, the other would be shallower at around 14mm. Judging from your response though, it doesn't seem as though that's what you were asking, sorry.
No worries and NEVER apologise for offering advice.
