I'm really disappointed by that crap hose routing. I was fully expecting this post to be the first of the telescopic posts that I would actually buy but that awful loop is enough to put me off I think. I'd hate to have that flapping about by my knees.
Think that's just toons bad cable routing, would work better without the top zip tie on the frame surely?
Nope, I think it is a big mistake by Rockshox putting the hose mount on the moving part of the post. That loops has to go somewhere when the post is lowered.
The cable routing is bloody tricky! That’s my first attempt with a serious hangover!!
When it’s down its in-line with the top tube, that’s why it needs all those zip ties, otherwise it would be hitting my knees.
I hadn't appreciated the loop as well 🙁
WTF, you have to BLEED it!? I think I can live without another thing that requires bleeding.
Actually, looking at this video it would appear that a slightly slacker hose routing with ties further from the post allow it to work a bit nicer. Still a bit clumsy having the hose on the moving part of the post though
Cheers for that, because the cable was coiled in the box, its a real bitch to work with.
Might hang it up for a few days
the speccy one has the same cable problem.
One way to ruin the looks of a nice bike 🙂
Anyone know any thing about this post? Just spotted it on an Uzzi posted up on the MBTR forums.
Maybe if you run it along the brace, and shorten the outer, you'll have a bit of loop room. My Specialized post works really well like this, with no snagging issues.(must get some tie wraps!)

Ah, thanks duntstick, reckon that will work just fine on my Sov.
@Matthew_H I tried routing the cable like the video and it gets very very close to the rockers when compressed.
I'm going to try running it on the taco and the loop will\should go out the back when compressed.
I've had a few rides with the seat post and its quality and has a lovely smoooooth action.
I don't suppose you can have it with the control just under the seat. and not have the remote
CRC are do to have these in stock today I believe. Before I annoy them with another call regarding these, has anyone spoke to them to find out if they actually have any in stock yet?
Nope, I'm still waiting but wuill probably get in touch wit them tom orrow if I've not heard anything (got a Stock Notification thingy on it as well).
At least they haven't suddenly gone "Out of Stock" this time like they did in September.
Had a quick play with one at the Cycle Show and very nice it seemed too. I only saw one and that was on a Whyte 146, they didn't even have them on display on the SRAM/Rockshox stand.
i just wonder actually how many pre-orders have been made with CRC?
and why they appear to have trouble securing any, same goes for some of the 20mm revs
Fishers site says no Reverbs available until Jan or Feb. depending on size.
they didn't even have them on display on the SRAM/Rockshox stand.
Yes they did, you just had to ask nicely to play with it....!
Anyone else try the Spesh post on their stand at the show? Ballbreaking rebound on the release!
CRC just shows 'out of stock' now.
Dont have access to Fishers, but thats a bit of a bummer if they're not in till next year now.

They certainly hid them very well then, and when I was talking to the guy about various RS bits he completely failed to mention it.
As for the rebound, that's precisely the reason why I'm so interested in the Reverb, especially after playing with the one I did see.
I've just dropped CRC a line to see if there's any news.......
My 30.9 reverb seatpost will be on e-bay end of November when I pick up my new Whyte 146 Works......Thomson 'normal' post for me thanks.
I wonder what price I can charge for it??
I wonder what price I can charge for it??
Quite a bit by the sound of it at the mo'.
Recently had this response back from CRC -
We are still expecting to receive these but the order has not arrived yet, we are hoping it will be with us within the week or so (fingers crossed). We do know that the order will not cover all the backorders but as yours is an old one from August hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones. We have been informed the next delivery will not be until December.
Pinkster, you should have had a chat to that devastatingly handsome chap who was seen at the ATB Sales stand for a while.
😉

Oh 'kin'ell -
Hi,Not good news I’m afraid. Unfortunately the Rock Shox Reverb Seat Post 2011 31.6mm - 380 drop did not arrive, we are really sorry about this. The date our supplier has now got back to us with is late December.
We do apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.
Kind Regards,
Already available here in New Zealand. Wonder why the delay in UK.
classic!
now listed on CRC as in stock 3rd Jan 2011...
guess SRAM royally ****ed up their manufacture slots big time

matt23, have you got a delivery date for your 146 yet?
Was told mid December when I phoned last week.
Bugger I was an august order and must have missed out .
do I cancel or just wait
it sounds like problems occured in the design to me .
also an early august orderer here as well
not sure about design problems though - as they are being sold in the states and other places around the world

I have been told first 2weeks of December....expecting confirmation of delivery date this week or next week. Ideally I want it now....cos I need a FS bike just to gout on the roads in Wales my ((road)) bike is killing me!
Fishers the UK importer are showing as getting stock in 10th Jan for all models with the MMX lever mount, and 7th Feb for the models with the standard bar mount... Quite a wait! I'm pretty sure CRC don't use official UK stock for these, so they may be different... I guess my Joplin will have to limp on a little longer.
Fekity fek 3 jan 2011 now on crc
Dont bloody want one now dont like waiting 6 days for stuff never mind 6 months .
I didn't wait for UK arrival and obtained one in Asia.
First thing to mention is that my initial impression is that it performs very well.
However, Beware:
1) Mine was almost impossibly hard to push down and ultra slow to return - needing pumping several times for perhaps 20 seconds. Disconcerting. After some time-consuming diagnostics I bled the system and it immediately worked fine. A bleed procedure can be downloaded from the SRAM website.
At least, in future, I could now recognise the symptoms of a bleed being required.
It shouldn't be so, Joe.
2) There are no installation instructions about how to route the cable below the post. Fortunately I had seen something on the internet that showed the best way. Sorry, can't recall where.
3) 2 tiny O Rings were included in one of the packs - again no instructions - after the bleed I realised that these should have been put on the syringe connecter nozzles. (after I had lost one)
4) Mine arrived with about 220psi pressure when the pressure cap says 250psi. In the absence of instructions I tried it higher and lower. It didn't seem to make much difference. 250psi certainly works fine for me.
5) The packaging says 5wt suspension fluid is included. Elsewhere it says use 2.5wt.
6) The initial review photos that I saw all showed a left hand remote lever, which seems the smartest position to me. Most sellers advertisements do not tell you whether you will receive a right or left. Mine arrived with a right hand. I think that Chain Reaction will have rights. On the bike on which it is currently mounted that is OK, but left would be better. Surely your right hand is likely to be busier shifting the rear mech at times when you want to adjust to changing terrain? Also, as 99.9% of UK riders ride Moto - front brake to right - that means our right hands are busy enough.
When I try one on my other, single-ring, bike I can actually try it mounted 'upside down' on the left side, with the benefit that the loc lever doesn't risk damage if you upturn your bike to stand whilst fixing a puncture or whatever. If you use Matchmaker X clamping, switching a right to the left is only suitable, however, if there is no left shifter.
I am not guaranteeing that running the loc switch upside down will work - any trapped air bubbles might possibly misbehave, but I have seen pictures of someone else doing it.
It may pay to know what you are buying before ordering as buying an alternate-sided button will cost at least about £75 if you can track one down.
7) Note also that you cannot combine this bar clamp with standard, stronger, Matchmaker brake clamp used on Code and CR etc. It only combines with MMX (aka MatchMaker X) brake bodies.
8) As ever, be ultra careful when clamping any MMX brake lever body, especially magnesium-bodied ones, because the metal clamping area crumbles all too readily.
9) In British muddy winter weather I tend to use a rear CrudCatcher mudguard most of the time. I would be relucant to use such a drop post a lot in muddy winter conditions without one.
10) You may have forked out £250, or whatever, but don't expect a titanium bolt in the bar clamp.
I have marked on my frame where the cable moves at 1,2,3 and 4 inches of movement as an attempt at a guide for rough, on-the-fly judgements. Hopefully the cable/cable-ties won't shift the first time I have to lift the bike over a fence or after my next tactical dismount.
The return speed adjuster on mine seems to work very well with a sensible range of adjustment between fast and slow.
I can't detect any wobble.
Presumably I will have to be careful what/how I lean the bike against - if it fell against a wall edge or metal fence railing it would easily damage the exposed face of the post stanchion.
I haven't seen any recommended service intervals but presumably it will require periodic servicing like forks or shocks, if only to replenish the suspension fluid that lubricates the stanchion.
Good product. I wish the instructions/tech data etc. had been better.

Get a spesh command post. 😈
so we have this great new product from Rockshox
available in august then suddenly not available for 6 months .
and even a giant like CRC cant get them sooner Why 😕
My Reverb arrived yesterday. Haven't had a chance to fit it yet but will do after Christmas. Looks like a quality bit of kit though.
Looking forward to testing it out
They are available in Canada! We've got a couple in stock and I fitted one for a customer the other day.
Seen and fondled one in Summit Cycles, Aberystwyth yesterday. Google them if you want one, but I don't think that they are open now until next Thursday. Looks nice, fairly light and hopefully hassle and maintenance free. Going to stick with my multi-drop Gravity dropper though at least for a while anyway. Light and easy to maintain 😀
Walleater - whereabouts in Canada are you? If it's nearby I might come and check it out.
Vancouver area. If you happen to be near there, I can email you a more precise location!
Ah, I'm in Toronnoh, so unlikely to make it out! 🙂
I do have a different post about Garmin GPSs for biking, and Canadian maps, which I'd be interested in getting your thoughts on.
