Hi all, I have some Rockshox Reba RL (A3 model which I think means they are about 2015 vintage) on a bike I have just bought. I want to give them a strip down and service as they feel like they would benefit. I have a fairly decent set of tools but there seem to be some specifics I am missing, would welcome recommendations and where to get the following:

24mm Top cap flat socket or spanner
Reba full service kit 11.4018.018.001
SRAM butter
SRAM 5wt oil 120ml
Bottomless tokens

Things I already have:
Shock pump
Seal picks
Torque wrench
Mallet and general tools

I am intending to do a full service not just the lower legs so I want to make sure I have everything I need to do the full job rather than get half way and realise what I am missing!

I am wondering if the best solution is to get these from TF Tuned:
https://www.tftuned.com/rebarevpikerecon-air-service-kit/p1634
https://www.tftuned.com/32mm-rockshox-refresh-service-kit/p2753
https://www.tftuned.com/rebarevpikerecon-motion-control-service-kit/p1633

But not sure if there is some dupication in O-rings and it is quite a big spend in total!

Any recommendations on which service guide to follow would also be good, at present the SRAM guide seems the most comprehensive.

pretty certain that the full service kit you mention has everything needed, making the kits on the TF links not needed. Full kit here:

https://www.bike-components.de/en/RockShox/Full-Service-Kit-for-SID-Reba-Solo-Air-Models-2012-2016-p45978/

and is probably is £30 delivered I reckon.

Your job will be easier with circlip pliers too. Any oil at the right weight will be fine, + you will likely find that other suspension grease will be better value, eg stendec. 15wt oil for the lowers too.

If you are careful the airspring top cap can be removed with an adjustable wrench or you could grind the chamfer off a standard socket.

Ah yes I have circlip pliers. Good spot on the lowers oil.

Sadly I don't have the grinder required for socket grinding. Though I do have a couple of sockets I would be happy to grind!

Thats the kit I bought when I did my first service at about erm 3000 miles 😆

Had everything needed for my 2015 Reba's & funnily enough they felt a lot better for it. I think the generous helping of Sram butter in the top seals probs made the biggest difference.

Total piss take on the Sram butter tub having a false bottom , that cheesed me right off. ******s

Can you not just use an adjustable on the top cap? That's what I've always done on my rockshox (of various types). If you have access then I can't see why it wouldn't work but someone here might know better

The only funny tool I had to find was a deep socket to go into one leg but it depends on the model whether or not you need it

edit: and for grease r.s.p slick kick works just fine

you can use an adjustable, but you need to be careful with it as the top nut is prety shallow and it's easy for the tool to slip.

I got my top cap socket off amazon for around a fiver. As above, shifter will work but it’s sloppy and risks damaging finishes. Shifting spanners/adjustable wrenches are not proper tools for any job, ever. They’re bodges of last resort.
