Just having a go at servicing my forks

Got new wiper seals but I don't think I have seated them fully

Does this look right?

or should the lip thing be further in, flush with the top?

That looks like it needs to go down another mm or 2 (I think!).

I can't get the bugger to go down anymore

I suppose hitting it with a mallet is a no no?

Take it out if possible then put it in the freezer for a while.

from memory i used a piece of kitchen overflow pipe to put over the seal and hit it with a rubber mallet

I managed it by taking the spring thingie off, heating it with a hairdryer, then using a bit of wood, putting a fair bit of pressure on it

thanks guys
