Hi there. My RockShox' XC30 Solo Air damper system gradually stopped working. If I move the blue cap into the locked position, no (or very little) amount of travel block can be noticed.ย  The system worked well in the past.

I'm thinking of buying such a service kit, together with some butter grease and a bottle of 5wt oil. I'll follow the service manual pdf provided by SRAM. Do you think this could solve my problem ? Or could the damper body be somehow damaged ?

Might be lack of oil since I think that's how the lock out works (locks the compression oil circuit). If you think the seals are ok just buy the oil and grease and try that first. You will also need 15wt for the lowers (or tf tuned lowers mix).

TK damping is basically a hollow sealed tube with a kidney shaped hole in the bottom that is progressively blocked as you turn the dial. Very simple. Or it used to be at least. It stops the displacement of oil on compression, thereby locking out the fork hydraulically.

I can't imagine it's anything other that loss of oil or the dial is no longer actuating the cover for the port. I once serviced one where the guy had actually crushed and split the tube itself by hitting stuff hard with the fork locked out, but he was a big old unit and a bit of a thumper to boot.

It's pretty easy to take out of the crown and take a look.

I've reviewed the RS service manual and I can see they changed the tube to a honeycomb plastic shaftย a la motion control, with a seal head on the base. Everything else is the same though.

Worst case if its screwed would be to drop in a second hand motion control unit and get a performance upgrade at the same time :D.
