Rocker plate alternative

Always fancied a rocker plate for the trainer, but it's way down the list of priorities for splashing the cash. But I came across these today which I've never seen before. Guess they won't add as much movement as a full plate, but at £40 could be worth an experiment.

Anyone tried them or got an opinion on what they'd be like!? Potential health and safety hazard!?

Could be worth a go. I've got a £7.99 camping mat cut up under my Saris H3 and its legs... put there to see if I liked the wobble before going for something more complicated/expensive - some years later, it's still there, because it's enough.

There's also the jet black freedom feet. The reviews seem promising so I've ordered a set. I'm currently using a yoga mat folded back on itself 3 times that gives a bit of movement and was an improvement on just having the trainer on the floor.

Similar to others I've just put multiple layers of foam tiles under the trainer, it's not that it moves, so much as just absorbs the movement if that makes sense? I tried a full rocker plate and to me it felt completely alien. On the road or on rollers if you fall left, you turn the bars left and the bike moves back under you, the rocker plate felt like the opposite, constantly trying to force it to balance by pulling myself one way or the other.

I did see an interesting DIY (well, DIY with some skill involved) rocker 'frame' the other day, rather than being a traditional plate that rocked side to side it held the trainer and front wheel, but suspended by links that created a virtual pivot / roll-centre around the BB, so the trainer swings like a pendulum, not rocking from side to side.  I think the benefit is that although your COG is still above the pivot, so it still wants to fall over when you lean, it's not by so much, so the movement is less amplified, and the weight shifts out of the saddle tend to be more self centring like they would be on the road.

I've got six of these:

Hedgehog Pods | Functional Training Equipment | Physical

Five under a board that the trainer then sits on (one in each corner, one in the middle), one under the front wheel. They provide a satisfactory amount of squish.

So what you all seem to be saying is that just a little bit of squish is all that's needed as opposed to a full rocker plate. Which means the things I've seen on eBay might actually be worth a punt. 🤔

Need to work out where these lie on my priory list of unimportant things I need to buy....
