Hi
This is probably a stupid question but ,,,,,,,
I'm thinking of purchasing a road link for my cross bike thats running sram
all the literature I've read states its for shimano mechs
Is the any reason why you wouldn't be able run one with sram ?

Your question probably isn't stupid at all, but I've not the foggiest what a Road Link is ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you talking about a chain 'magic/quick link' ?

They say so on the website:

Direct Mount-native frames and SRAM or Campagnolo drivetrains are not supported.

Reason being that the other derailleurs have a thicker body around the mounting bolt and won't fit in the link (my assumption).

Short cage mechs work better without the link in my experience anyway

Right, now I see what you mean snap...

I didn't realise they're called 'road links' as they seem more appropriate to offroad ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did previously wonder how I could run an 11-36 on my CX bike (Ultegra gears, compact chainset) but in the end I just got a long cage (SGS) rear derailleur and 11-32 cassette. In my experience of running this setup, if it's too steep for 34 x 32, it's quicker to get off and run !
