Anyone got any recommendations for a roadies saddle that wont make my bony barse go numb after 50 miles. Tried Fizik Aliante and Charge Spoon so far.
Selle Italia SLR on all my bikes AND good padded shorts.
sq lab 611 - fitted and uber comfy.
You just need to keep trying different saddles as unfortunately what is comy for me( currently spesh toupe) may not be comfy for you.
Or you could try changing ur arse ๐
I too use SLR's, very impressed with them
SLR gel flow or Flite here- don't look like much but they're excellent. Didn't get on with Fizik either.
SLR for me too, used one for the past 5 years and don't really get on with anything else, but saddles are very personal things...
i have fizik arione on all my bikes mtb road and cx but its a personal thing best to try lots. Good excuse for lending bikes lol
Std flite/flite gel flow on mtb = SLR gel flow on the road bike.
Doing regular 100 mile rides no probs. Saddle fit is very personal though.
Tune speedneedle are good and lightweight as well
brooks b17 the reason they still make them is because they work
Spesh Toupe is working for me, despite its minimalism.
Stripped down to the base SLR's and none padded shorts or very minimal if any at all . I'm finding Decathlon's cheapest bib shorts the most comfy yet.
I'm often under the impression that people spend a lot of time getting the right saddle for them but don't think twice about the differences in padding in their various collection of shorts.
Can't stand padding in my shorts, nor in my saddle.

What do you sit on then? A spike???
A saddle and shorts without padding I'd have thought Roter Stern?
speed needle or slr for me

SDG I-Beam and an I-Fly saddle.
normal flite on my roadie.
Custom built flite on my SS bike (which i use the most)
Prologo nago on my race bike which is really the comfiest saddle right behind the custom flite ... the normal flite isnt bad but will replace it with a nago when it finally snaps in the center ! (as my 2 previous ones have )

As I understand it, both of those saddles actually have padding (though minimal). I thought you'd be using something like the Tune Speedneedle or one of these.
I personally find the SLRs comfortable as well as the Toupe but for my butt the best so far has been the Signo.
Spec Toupe or Flite if you want to go lightweight - both far more comfortable than appearances suggest. I don't get Fizik or the Spoon either,I've tried a couple of different Fiziks and they and the Charge gave me gyp / numb bits on long rides.
For comfort you can't beat a Brooks though. I've got a Professional - not light but by far the best I've tried for long distance...
spesh toupe
brooks
depending on whether you want it light or not
I like Toupes, find them very similar to an SLR, but proven not to kill my testicles, unlike an SLR! Probably cheaper now too, SLRs were creeping up alarmingly!
And surely an I-fly is actually quite padded? More so than a Toupe/SLR/Speed Needle, and certainly more than an SLR C64 or similar, which are oddly comfy I found.
I still use standard Flites which I guess is a reasonable saddle to start with.
Though I get on with SLRs and SKNs.
I have though just put a new Regal saddle on my singlespeed for next winter. The Regals a bit of a blast from the past.
I meant to say, I'd have thought the Spoon was a bit too 'scalloped' for road use.
Specialized Toupe for me too. It did come as standard on my bike, but I doubt I'll change it. Not even sure it's the 'correct' width but it seems to work.
I've had 2 specialised Toupe's, most comfy saddle i've ever had.
I think I've found (for me) Bicycle Saddle Nirvana. Cheap, light and comfortable. As above, somebody's old SLR (any model as long is it doesn't have the whole in the middle), peel off the cover, pick away at the foam, a good old scrub with some warm soapy water to remove the glue and there it is. A comfy, lightweight and very cheap saddle.
I've recently found that my Toupe is more comfortable than my Gel Avatar. Just goes to show that it's worth trying out a few options.
