I'm having trouble trying to find out if this will work...

I currently have a trek 1400 year 2005 with a worn chainset so i'm thinking about upgrading to a newer model 105 chainset. I have spotted this at merlin:-
' http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Clearance+Section/Road+Clearance+Section/Shimano+105+5600+Chainset_1184.htm'

Can anyone tell me if the BB will be compatible with my frame and if it will work with my current 9-speed setup.

If not, any recommendations on a new 9-speed chainset/bb combo?

Cheers,
Andy

As I understand it 10sp chainsets work fine with 9sp chains, and I would be almost certain trek use english thread BB's, and the HT BB would fit fine.

I'd be tempted to look at some of Chain Reaction's older stuff because they are silly prices, although you'd have to source a BB seperatly, (Merlin).

Cheers - the ones on chain reaction are the same as on it now - I quite fancy the new looking one + the BB that comes with is the external type I think so should be easier to maintain.
