Having convinced my other half that she'll get killed if she buys a 'Skinny Bike' (her words) and heads out on the tarmac, she's agreed to put skinny tires on her Marin so she can go faster.

Any recommendations - she's about 65kgs riding weight and we do a bit of SDW prepared path routes as well - nothing techinical.

Cheers

Why would she be killed if she buys a "skinny bike"?
Can your wife not decide what bike she wants to ride on her own?
If I attempted to pressure my SO into not buying a bike that she wanted to buy on such a specious argument I'd wake up one morning to the smell of frying mountain oysters.

The specialized tyres are indeed winners and will give thousands of miles..

there are loads of deals on slicks and semi slicks around, crc, and Onone have loads of stuff sub 10 quid.

I've got 2.3" slick try-all tyres on my marin full suspension 'road bike'. 16% faster than 2.4" racing ralphs on the road according to my stopwatch.
