I know its how long is a piece of string.....

Tempted by the Spesh Toupe Comp Gel but my Romin saddle is comfy but after about 4 hours is not and I read the Tupe is not much different.

was wondering about a Selle SLR or flite?

I would have suggested the Romin if you hadn't mentioned it :p Thing is after 4 hours unless you're getting some very specific pain I'd say it's more likely you either need to get used to long rides or get better shorts, if the Romin's fine up to 4 hours then I'd class it as comfy. What version are you running btw? If the bog standard one then might be worth considering either the gel padded or carbon railed version (which should take a bit more road buzz out).

The Comp Version - this is for another road bike - winter bike - have a old Avatar on it - I am using good pads TBH - I don't have much meat under my sit bones TBH so maybe need a little more padding 🙂

Did a 5 hour ride on it the Romin the other day after adjusting the position and it was improved 🙂

I think I am going to try something different the Selle Flite Gel - if that's not OK then I'll try a more comfy Romin or Toupe 🙂

Selle Itallia SLR would be my choice but I've ben using flite style saddles since the early 90's. Kit carbonia on my commuter, flites on my mtb's and c64 on my road bike. I love them, you might not.

i've got SLRs on both my mtb and road bike, and a vintage ti flite on the commuter.

it depends how flexible you are as to what shape saddle works, my lower back isn't that flext so more spoon shaped saddles like the Romin, fizik aliante etc seem to suit me better.

Moved from 130mm toupe which was good, to a san marco aspide which I find fantastic; I could be talked into thinking it was built with my sweet ass as the template.

Fizik Aliante for me..

best bet try a few loan saddle. Specilaixed, Selle Italia and Fizik all do load saddles which you can try for a week or so.

I have a spesh Toupe as the super light razor on my road bike and it is surprisingly comfy. I also have a spesh Alias, that i use on really long road runs but get on best with the WTB Pure V stealth on my MTB. Might try it on the road bike to see how I get on with it!

Toupe on the fast bike, Brooks B17 on the tourer. Either is good for an 8-10 hour day. If you're going the Specialized route, get your arse measured.
