Can someone please point me in the right direction to find some 700c rims built onto MTB (135mm) hubs. I'm hoping to squeeze some into an old hardtail frame to use as a commuter.

Rim or disc brakes? You will need some adapters to use 700c rims in a frame with brake bosses for 26" wheels. You will need to consider rim width and tyre volume a bit too, but plenty of people have done this before.

If you find some cheapy disc hub wheels for hybrid bikes and the rear hub is only 130 mm, sheldon brown has some advice about spacing out a 130mm hub to go into 135mm dropouts.

Rim or disc brakes?

I'll be using discs. I've got a few sets of hydros sat around, but i may well invest in some BB5s/7s so i can use drop bars.

Bontrager make a 700c disk wheelset, mine have coped with 14 months of commuting with panniers, and with towing a bob-yak.

Anyone got any experience with the Roadrat wheelset? I can't seem to find any reviews around, except for the Alfine equipped one.
