Morning all

Am looking to do a longish road ride from roman lakes ish over stockport/west peak way.

Are there any good road rides out into Cheshire from there? Ride peak district road so familiar with that but wonder whether to go cheshire for a change of scenery??

Ta.

(sat of aug BH weekend if anyone fancies a ride....)

You could do one of the Spud Riley routes

Oooh, right up my street, quite literally this :-).
From Marple, Offerton Green, Hazel Grove, Macclesfield Road, Prestbury village, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Delamere Forest follow the lanes back toward Altrincham, out toward Manchester Airport, back roads to Tatton Park, back the way you came to Marple.
I'm going out with a mate on Thursday for a road ride. His first in a few years (20 I believe but he can shift some on a mountain bike). He thinks we're doing a Lyme Park gentle spin ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, have a search for the Manchester 100 route. It's a great almost exclusive Cheshire ride and there is a 100 mile and 100 kilometre version.

You might be able to find something on http://www.cycle-route.com/routes/Cheshire-Routes-66.html

All depends on how far and flat you want the route, I ride from Macc through Siddington and Goostrey over to Middlewich, nice and flat, quiet lanes with virtually no busy bits of road, then up through all the Peovers into Knutsford, round Tatton Park, Ashley, Moberley, Great Warford, Marthall, Chelford, Siddington and back up Pexhill to Henbury. Its a nice 55 ish miler that can done of an evening in around 3hrs and is dead simple to make longer/shorter.

Not sure on begining your route but I'd guess a short trip up the A6 and down through Higher Poynton, Pott Shrigley, Bollington and into Prestbury would be a quite route, then on through to either Macc or Alderley Edge and out onto something like either suggestion above.

As monksie says, loads of choice. There's an incredible network of really quiet flattish lanes all round North Cheshire although describing the routes is a nightmare. Takes a bit of time to get to know them to be honest.

Could try a couple of the clubs that ride out that way. Will's Wheels, Manchester Wheelers, Buxton CC etc?

Post up on here nearer the time, I might be able to show you round some of it.

Thanks for the ideas. Will shout up nearer the time and see if anyone is riding. If it's flatish something near 90-100 miles would be good.

Hmm guess that would be the manchester 100!
