For leisure distance riding, my nirvana would be an Altura Night Vision waterproof gore phantom.

But as that doesn't exist, whats the consensus of either softshell under featherlite showerproof affair, or base/shirt under full (Night Vision stylee) jacket?

I bow to your experience and wisdom...?

I've got one of the Altura night vision windproof jerseys for night riding on the road. A couple of the best purchases I also made is the Craft windproof tops. Got a short sleeve and a long sleeve and they get used a fair bit.

Thanks Kuco that Craft top is what I've been searching for to replace my 8 year old now irretrievably smelly Pearl Izumi base.

Those that wear the Night Vision windproof L/S jerseys - I read the fabric is now softshell - ish, are they shower proof?

I find the front of my Altura showerproof but the back is just fleece but find it okay to wear with a decent base layer underneath.
