Currently got Hutchinson Equinoxe on at the moment and they are gash. Fine in the dry but scary in the wet. Should I go wider to 25 or stick to 23.

TBF it's pretty grim out there at the moment, pretty well everyone was slipping on some lanes. You'd need something really special to deal with the current rain/mud/leaves/diesel combo currently adorning our roads.

I like Vredestein Fortezza tyres good grip, feel, puncture resistance, longevity. Not fashionable so also usually cheaper than the more well known brands.

This. I've got some 37c Vittoria Voyager Hypers which grip even on a polished wooden floor, but twice this week on the way to work, they've tried to step out on me. It's the diesel IMO.

Been using Schwalbe 1s all through winter, they're not cheap, not the longest lasting but ride is near perfect and grip very impressive.

No reason not to go to 25 unless you need them to fit under cruds.

I would go for gp4000s, if not One's or Pro 4 Service Courses.
