If you were buying a frame that had a seat angle 1 deg slacker than your current frame and wished to retain the same saddle setback, would you:
A - Get a frame with a longer TT, move the seat forward and and use the same length stem (110mm)
B - Get a frame with the same TT, move the seat forward and use a longer stem (120mm)
I cant decide ๐
Prob A but I doubt there are 2 bikes with every other factor the same, so I would look at it overall.
C - buy the red one. Red bikes are always faster.
Shame you never bought one Colin ๐
*Heads off to look at red bikes*
having been in a similar position i would go for B.
I always find with the road bikes i've had that they handle much better with the saddle further forward and a longer stem, and hence more weight distribution on the front of the bike.
I would go with B
120mm not long on a road bike. but dont forgert reach on the bars to the hoods unless you're carrying the same ones over. It can vary by 30mm easily depending on bar.
Hmm, I was considering option A, but I like your thinking. Its more of a long distance/audax orientated frame so the shorter TT length may give me a the option of a more upright position without a silly short stem.
