Rules:
1. Must be light as rolling weight has to be brought down
2. Has to be durable (so no Stans rims as made of butter)
3. No wish to remortgage for wheels.
Are Lightbicycle rims any good?
I have 2 pairs of Chinese carbon rim wheels - no problem recommending them. Lightbike, Carbon Cycle, Ican - lots of reputable Chinese carbon rim sellers. Choice of 35mm and 50mm rim width - I have 35mm (not carbon) rims on my 29+ and like the nice rounded profile - means they roll pretty quick, but plenty of grip heeled-over on off-camber.
Halo are pretty decent for the money
My Stans Flow Mk 3s have been great - no issues and I'm a big bugger - happily running Chronicles tubeless on them making them much lighter than the Northpaws they replaced
I use Nextie Junglefox Rims
Been running Nexties for 2 years, they're nothing special and you pay 30% premium from their UK dealers as you can no longer buy direct. Halo Vapour = Kinlin TL29. Been getting good service from my Velocity Blunts for 3 years.
Think your ok to buy Nextie direct from US ebay (.com) with no premium 🙂
Chinese carbon looks interesting, as I am in no way an air bandit. Not much more than Stans butter rims and wider too (bonus)
I suppose matte finish is still the fashion?
