Seeing winter seems to be over, time to start building the susser up, but I want to keep the 456 running as a commuter.
Been looking at the rigid forks on the on one website, but they've said the steel ones would make the steering weird and to use the carbon 29er forks (axle to crown 47cm). They are to expensive for my budget but the exotic alu 29er forks look the job.
Question is to the masses has anybody done this and does it look weird with a 26" wheel
cheers
As I understand it the 456 with the on one rigid forks has the same angle as the inbred with the same forks.
I'm using a rigid 29er Singular fork on my 26er. The handling isn't effected as much as some people would have you believe.
Shame there doesn't seem to be any long rigid forks in 26" specific offset.
I used the orange F8 rigid fork.. axle to crown 450mm.. on my 456 last year.. quite reasonable price and fairly light..
looks a bit wierd with a 26" wheel but worked very well on and off-road.. handled great and gave a natural riding position but a little flexy..
I would have stayed with the rigid fork but a back injury at work made it quite uncomfortable.. If I did it again I would use a 29" wheel and a large volume tyre..
I have this - it's actually fine to ride... (Although you will find it on the classifieds thanks to my carbon addiction.)

When I ride it I do use pedals btw.
I used the 26" rigid fork for most of last year and it cornered like a house fly. Very direct. I even did a weekend at afan on them, not a problem. I quite like the direct feel.
