Highly likely I will swap my forks out for winter, going to try rigid.

Can somebody please suggest a pair, they will be for a standard Cotic Soul if that helps?

Thanks.

Singular Swift steel 29er forks. About £70 new IIRC). Keeps the bars stem at about the same height as a 120mm fork.

Ran On-One steels on my old Soul for a while. 440mm kept the front end at a nice height - certainly felt a lot more 'racey'. But they're the most horrid forks I've ever used. For some reason (cheapness probably!) I got another pair a few years later for my Curtis. Lasted 1 ride before they were changed for bounce but now they've been swapped out for some Salsa Cromotos. Lovely forks... I'd get them.

Just put a Salsa Fargo V2 (it's a 29er fork) on my P7. I have about an extra 10mm of spacers below the stem and it feels pretty much like it did before when I had a 140mm fork on.

Great, thanks all for the help. I am currently running 140 so looks like a 29er fork might be the best option...

Interested in the Singular forks, as 120 would be nice.

Exotics are great.

Those Pipedream forks look lovely - anyone know the weight of 'em?

Ive got a pipedream fork on my Cotic. Dont know the weight, I only got em cos they were cheap and a good size. I havent really used them to be honest, although I noticed some brake judder with my 180mm discs. Is this common with rigid forks?

Not noticed judder on the rock solids, to be honest I was amazed how smooth the white bros forks where, I'm also using a carbon flat bar, a fairly fat tyre with about 30 psi. I've heard the exotics flex a bit.

Another question, sorry. Are they going to be strictly 'wheels on ground' or are they able to take a smooth(ish) drop or two, nothing over about one foot..?

no problem, most of us started on rigid 😉

just don't inflate the tyre to the max, padded gloves can help

Got the exotics in 29er flavour and yep they flex like crazy, no brake judder with mine tho...

Ooooh that Infinity looks like a bargain for the carbonphobics/skint. Cheers 💡

I have Exotics (F0345) on my Simple, they're perfect for it.

White Bros seem to be absolutely identical to my Exotics. Could be there's invisible differences of course but that doesn't seem too likely.

I expect mine to be up for anything that a 100mm xc fork would be happy with. So far they've been happy with that. Could be next time I do it I'll need new teeth, who knows? 🙂 The limitation seems to be more with the rider than the fork.

Mine were originally bought for a Soul so I went with the 29er ones- just to slack things off a little. Some people seem to think that's a bad idea but it worked really well IMO.

I love watching them on heavy braking  Like drawing back a bow or something.

I've been running carbon Pace RC30s on my Soul on and off for a while and really like it

They take a hell of a pounding - more than what my wrists can - but the flex under braking is sometimes a bit worrying

I normally run 140mm forks, but the Pace forks drop the front end right down - making it feel very racey

no brake judder on the Exotics here, not noticeably flexy either although the 29er version may differ..

I purposely went for the more 'compliant' Exotics because of reports of some other brands being seriously over engineered and unforgiving.. dead happy with mine and I ride like a loony
