Took the Kona for a spin at Haldon today, some cheeky stuff plus the red route and the "extreme" bit - It's usually relegated to pulling a trailer full of shopping or camping gear and I'd almost forgotten how fast and fun it was. I know it's all wrong by STW standards & has some stupid bars but I thought I'd share anyway...

Like. I went to Haldon recently for the first time. I imagine the braking bumps on the black-section felt a bit harsh on that.
Old Konas rock.
Rigid AND fun !!! Cool as.
I have an mid ninites Kona rigid 8 speed as well and that alo of fun but I prefer my later 80's Marin rigid SS for fun. That bike is perfect. I prefer it to my "modern". I am a fan of old steel Kona's, Marin's and others.
the braking bumps were not too bad - if you really go at it and use the very top 2" of the berm it's not too bad. The bit that nearly got me was a bit further up that section where you hit a big rock garden at speed. I hit the first rock and about every 5th after that, the rest of the time I was airborne. Not much time for corrections!
That's nice. Very nice. Get rid of those gears though.
Looks like this one...

Ah yes I also "went for it" the first time down there and pinch flatted 🙂 Was a bit more circumspect the second time.
