This isn't another one of those threads where someone has a bit of a sniffle and they want the world to reassure them its a good enough excuse to miss a ride.

Instead, I want to know if you would/do ride even if you have a cold, and when you do, how do you feel during and after?

I felt awful last night, but got up early this morning anyway. Still didn't feel great, but went out on the bike anyway. Lots of snot and I rode like a tw*t for the first hour or so, but after that I felt pretty good. Even went and did some roller racing this evening, and although it hurt, I'm feeling much better.

I think getting out can "cure" you of a cold.

Felt really bad thursday, still had cold quite bad saturday but went riding anyway at trail centre and felt fine but a little more tired than usual after.

woke up this morning and played an hours badminton and felt brilliant.

still got a little bit of a cold but feeling great. so yeah i think exercising can cure it by giving you the feel good factor. ๐Ÿ˜€

Rode whites mid week last week a few days after shifting old, massive fail only 1 lap achieved and that was pap! Next two days I was ruined! Still beat the fitties on the dh bits though.

Will think twice about bigger rides immediately after a cold though.

I always try to ride with a cold but usually end up feeling crap because my stamina etc is awful.

from my experience:
with a head cold - riding is fine, it evens seems to clear you out a bit and opens the sinuses up - feel the same if not a little better afterwards
with a chest cold - riding is fine, if a little sluggish with a bit of coughing - feel worse afterwards and may develop bronchitis

If it's a chest cold I stop in as it triggers my asthma

Got a mild head cold now and instead of a long slog yesterday just went to some local woods with lots rooty singletrack and sketchy descents and played there for an hour.

my friend told me how he got a train to afan, did all the trails, all the riding to and from the station both in wales, and in london village, in constant rain... and ended up with a cold that lasted weeks.... ๐Ÿ˜†

Got a cold / sore throat threatening AFTER riding on sat, it was really gopping out theere and was a bit chilly when we stopped.
Will prob not go out this week for a night ride as I really dont want it to develop into omething worse, esp not at this time of year. Made that mistake in the past and it came back and bit me hard!

If I didn't ride whilst suffering colds, I'd never ride. (I have two young children).

Colds go for my chest and I always leave riding.

However sometimes I need to ride a little after 2 weeks or so to clear myself out - the infection has gone but I'm still clogged up.

I'll usually try a short ride and if I'm lucky I will feel better and it will clear the nose and head.

I certainly would not be going out for anything huge and it feels bad I'll bail for home and the hot honey and lemon.
