Have to be there for a few weeks around the end of the year. Is there any good riding? techy stuff would be good but if not then something just to keep fit. Also are there any skate parks, bmx tracks or dirt jumps that I can play on with my son (7yrs old so no mega doubles etc.

Cheers

I did a bit of research a while back, looks promising. Some routes here:

Lots of bridleways, climbs and descents. This page was quite interesting:

Personally i'd get an OS map and use the info above.

There's a skate park in Northwood Recreation Ground, on Park Road in Cowes. Always mobbed with young kids on BMXs, scooters, skateboards etc.

There's loads of good riding all over the island, a lot of it on cheeky trails. Lots of stiles and gates though so climbs and descents tend to be interrupted. It's hard to get totally lost so get an OS map and just follow your nose.

Carisbrooke near Newport is a good place to start exploring - lots of trails branch out from there.

PS, it's the Isle of Wight.

Pop into Whight Mountain with an OS map they'll point out the good bits, I'm guessing the riding must be at least quite good becasue the guys from there were on 6" bikes and weren't exactly mincieng* down the technical stuff we rode in Spain.

*They pretty much left us for dead.
