Are there any groups in the Quantocks area willing to show me around sometime? I live in the Wiltshire area so am not too far away and I'm looking to go in March.

Thank you 😀

Myself, knottie and dibbs, are the usual local guides.

I'm always happy to show peeps around and i think the others enjoy it too.

Set a date, bring friends, cake, etc.

I'm free on the 7th/8th and the 28th/29th, if you choose either of those weekends. mail at, mtbsharki at yahoo dot co dot uk

Depending on the date, I'll come too. I ****in love the 'Tocks. We might even be able to sort out a Cotswold Massiv away-day.

I've been up there every other weekend since xmas & we've got more trips planned in March if you want to join us - usually 10.30 start from CPG or Dead womans ditch.

Thanks sharki.

I've just realised I'm away the weekend of the 7th anyway and my next free weekend without the girls is the 21st - how are you fixed for the 4th/5th April? 😀

Ali - if you want to do the 21st, that might work well. I know it well enough to lead a ride.

Ooooh, sounds as though this could be a Southern Shandy Drinkers meet, if I'm invited that is!!

Provided I'm riding and haven't had an arm amputation, would love to come but can't do the 4th/5th April.

Am keen to have another wuss attempt at The Chimney, last time my rear wheel jumped out of the drop-out 🙁

I can change things so i'm free on the 21st, that way IHN might see some new stuff.

If not the first weekend in April is fine, and if you're lucky i may organise an easter egg hunt/ride.

CG, fine with me if the others don't mind.

Just be cautious if Sharki says " I'll just take you down this interesting trail"

I really enjoyed riding in the quantocks - very intensive tho

I drove up to the top to have a look around this morning, and there's still a fair bit of snow about. eg you can't get into Lydeard Hill car Park.
I'm working on the 21st 😥

Rode there last weekend - well actually pushed there cause of the snow. Great snowball fights though but with 2ft of snow, no riding. Shame cause we booked months ago and thought it might be possible.
YOU JUST CANT RIDE IN THAT !!
Looking to go back in the summer though :o)

I'd be up for this too. Only been to the quantocks twice but enjoyed it immensely. Managed to climb weacombe before being educated, so some guiding would be good.

Can bring cake 🙂

Can't believe Stella's closed down, such a loss to mountain bikers. Was made to feel so welcome and proper size portions of cake too!

I really do hope I can make this ride.

Would love to go to the Quantocks (never been!), but what chance of doing this on the 28th/29th?

I can't do 21st/22nd March (mates's stag do), or the 4th/5th April (same mate's wedding).

How this group ride will look from the air.

I hope your trails dry out in time for this, cos if they don't, there won't be much left of them after 😉

I shouldn't worry about that, I don't.

Mboy - sorry fella, I think that now we have a date and a fair few people signed up we need to stick with it. I'm always up for trips down there though so we can arrange another time.

Del, agreed knottie is a better guide, i prefer to ride at the back and look at butt.

This weekend is set, most seem to be happy with riding on just the 21st, but if anyone wants to make a weekend of it then find somewhere to stay and i'll be availible from friday night onwards.

If this turns out to be as big a group as it seems to be getting, the cheeky non-legal stuff (that of course i never do) will be unlikely to be part of the loop/loops, espcecially after the snow.

Nicknoxx, i've not a clue how long i could do Cwm carn in so can comment on whether you a fit enough, having said that i don't know how fit anyone will be on this ride, other than knottie, which doesn't count as he'll be hiding behind a tree no doubt!!!!;-).

Could do with a idea of how many are coming in case i need a field for ALL the cars..

My best time around Cwmcarn is about 1h6m but more like 1h20m 2 weeks ago as I slacked a bit over Xmas.

Yeah Knottie took that whilst getting a little 'air'

Ill be up for this weekend now I have a new toy.
Looking to be a rather large ride tho, cant wait!
Ill be the one eating at the back and screaming on the downhills.

Nearly came a cropper on the chimney last week, think It was the 2ft snow drift tho! couldnt even see the rocks.
Never riden down the gully before, was a very very strange experience!

Best get my fitness on!

Those trees in the middle look like a huge two legged dinosaur, with crocodile jaws and big claws on its feet. Maybe I shouldn't post that though.

annabananna (also what i call my daughter!!!!!) that there right in the middle of the pic, where the monsters neck meets it's shoulder, that is 'dragons throat' and fun cheeky gully run that never fails to make me giggle.

So many great trails in that one pic....god i love it here..

Charlie, i only ever ride in the gully now, it's the quickest way down..

I do not regard myself as fast or whatever on a bike but I can get by and that's all that counts 🙂

IHN may have a good idea of numbers from his side, as for the rest we'll just have to rely on who says they're coming on here as to whether a field will need to be arranged for the amount of cars turning up 😆

I'm keen, but has a date actually been decided? I'm holidaying for the 1st two weeks of March and racing in Plymouth on the 15th. Anytime after that and I'm on board.
