Hi all,
I am taking the family to the New Forest for a few days in a lodge and we are staying in New Milton. We will be taking all the bikes (4yr old on isla bike & 2 yr old on scoot balance bike) & was wondering if there is any good singletrack in the area where I could go for a cheeky early am blast from our lodge?

Would be great to hear if there is anything worth getting out of bed early for so I can pack my bike gear ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers
Geordynige

SImple answer is no, not really. I have lived in the forest for 16 years and only found a couple of short bits, all joined together by bridleway type paths or fire-roads.

Pretty good for 4 years olds though....

If Avon Tyrells open you could visit them for some great child friendly activities and the venue is host to Big Bike Bash and has a great loop around the perimeter.

That's a bit pessimistic from kerley - there's decent enough xc to be found in there

That said, I've never gone as far as New Milton so not sure about what's avaialble from your door. Also, there's been a moderate amount of rain lately so the previously super-dry ground could be a bit claggy.

Could prob point you at a route or two near Burley (or avon tyrell as ^ said - though I've never been there either)

Thanks guys.
The plan was to ride from my front door as I usually only get an hr or so. May just enjoy the lie in instead
& play on the bridlepaths with my 4 yr old ๐Ÿ™‚

If you just want a leg stretch then pedal to Barton on Sea, turn right and using paths follow the coast to Mudeford & back.

Good shout that from Qwerty, but don't expect any gnarly technical action. It's all very rideable on drop bars and 32mm tyres.

I'll raise you on that - it is all very rideable on a fixed brakeless drop bar track bike with 25c road tyres. It does then become a bit more fun and some sections a bit more of a challenge. A rigid MTB was more than needed when I had one.

The Strava times will show you how easy it is as they are all up in the top tens are usually up in the 20mph area...
