There's loads of markings on the road up to the Col du Rates (inland & North of Benidorm)so they must hold races & stuff. The German cafe at the top is pretty good too & the views are panasonic. ๐ฏ
It's canny hilly up that way.
Have a look on 'Wikiloc', it helped me find plenty of mtb'ing routes when I was last in Spain.
Calpe, north of Benidorm seems popular with professional teams.
Inland and up the Jalon valley and beyond into the mountains is where i headed. Can't remember much as it was years ago but the village of Guadalest comes into mind.
There's some great riding round there. Col de Rates and Calpe as mentioned, but also inland beyond Finestrat; small roads, great surface, few cars. The road up to the observatory at Aitana, beyond Sella, was used in the Vuelta a couple of years ago. I'm jealous.
Group of us are going over at the end of April. As said some great riding. Going to the Aitana observatory gets you to 1500m so plenty of climbing.
This is a local clubs sunday rides, get your self a good map and you can work out the routes. If your there Sunday you can join them for a couple of euro's. The rides supported so well worth it.
