[#3055489]

Pootling along at 20 mph
Car has overtaken and turned left.....boom!
Smashed Ultegra STIs
Broken Carbon bars
Shorts have no arse
Giro Atmos split in two
Cuts to both arms, both legs, back, shoulders, hand,
One shoe broken

Driver of dark grey Civic floored it towards Milton Keynes at 7.23pm

Reported to police, but local station shut.

Nothing I can do is there? that's lots of ££££££ down the pan.

may be able to get some recompense.

report it to police lots of photos of damage to you, kit and bike and don't throw any of the broken kit away in case they argue about value

Grey Honda civic with an obviously dented passenger side, should be easy enough to track down, if it stays local or isnt incinerated.

Thankfully your pretty well ok, and not dead or left for dead.

Oh No! Sorry to hear that!

I'd have thought it would be worth waiting around for an evening or two on that corner & keeping an eye out.

Any cctv around?

Grey Honda civic with an obviously dented passenger side,

Back of motor could have just clipped front wheel, plenty enough for a man-down scenario with zero car damage.

Left turning after overtaking motorists are becoming so annoying and so dangerous lately.

I'm alright, just a headache.

Hit his front wing, and I think my bike hooked up because it ended up about twenty metres away

Cheers my dears.

That's my second worst off in all the years I've been riding. Not too bad in 37 years of serious riding and a lot of miles.
Angry and gutted about my pride and joy

+1 for getting it reported. Maybe CCTV somewhere on the route to ID the car, not stopping at the scene of an accident, stake out the junction for witnesses, etc.

Kit can be replaced, hope you mend well.

What about chasing through your own insurers? Contents may cover it? Also check with the police that there isn't a process to help (although that may just be the link above).

I do hope they catch a driver but I wouldn't hold your breath.

On the road from Wing, just about to go across the roundabout to Leighton.
The driver tried to overtake before the roundabout to turn left but didn't make it. Though he could have gone round the roundabout then took his turning

I thought the worse when I read the topic, at least you'll heal fast and can continue riding.

What a awful person! 👿

Sorry so much kit has gone down the pan, I'd be furious. He'll get his, you can't carry on like that without getting your karma!

Do you know anybody in the local press? Get them round to take a picture of battered you/bike and do a bit about the driver failing to stop etc, might provoke the Police into positive action.

Bloody hell it boggles the mind how someone can drive away from something like that. Glad there's no permanent damage to you. Keep us updated once the police are involved.

Another vote for the local rag...sounds like the car will have at least some minor paint damage. Time, location, where the car came from and where he was going.

Could also call round some repair places in case the car turns up for a quick repair to cover his tracks.

Finally, stake out the roundabout at the appropriate time in case its a regular route 🙂

Reported to police today.
Advised Cycle Claims who I've seen in Cycling Weeekly. They seem to know their stuff, right down to types of components.
They warned me that the bike might be a write off due to the excessive damage the other parts recieved?
Sit back and see now.

Similar thing happened to me, and the chap just drove off! Mine wasn't as bad as yours though! It really annoys me how people just drive off!

Hope you get it all sorted!

Apparently someone called in an accident at the same place but at just gone midnight the same day?
So the police are coming round at 7pm today to go through what happened, and due to the fact I was injured.

Good old helmets, hate to think what state I'd have been in if I wasn't wearing one.

The lady that ran me down called it in at 00.16am that night, baring in mind she only lives a little way down the road it took her five hours to do it?

Anyway I now have to talk to her.

Glad the driver has been found. Did the police suggest you talk to her? Not sure how these things work...do you have to press charges or something if you want to pursue the matter legally, or will the police run with it anyway?

Wonder if she had been drinking? Good luck with the conversation, not sure I would want to do it, not sure what it would achieve anyway.

why do you have to talk to her - presumably the police have her insurance details and have already given her a bloody hard time over it ?
(I bet she'd been on the sauce, as hig suggests)

(glad you're not badly hurt)
