My friend Pete Lloyd had the kind of crash that could happen, and has probably happened, to all of us who ride bikes, unfortunately this time Pete didn't get away with it so well and is now paralysed from the neck down and now needs a helping hand.
While he was annoyingly talented on a bike I wouldn't wish this on anyone and while his recovery is far from over he seems to approached it with the humour and zest for life he has shown on the bike.
Anything you can spare to help will go to aid his rehabilitation and recovery.

Thanks.
I've just spotted STW have shared this on their Facebook page so if this is posted somewhere else please feel free to delete this if it's duplicated.
Thanks.
It's a worry for every parent every time they go out to ride. Have dropped on Pete and his mum and dad on many occasions when he has been competing and it was a shock when we found out what had happened.
Monies sent, I've forwarded this to our daughter so she can share it with her Uni riding mates.
Let's hope we can get it an more raised very quickly
Pete is one of the friendliest guys you could meet, with time for anyone.
Anything you could donate would be great.
I didn't know Pete personally ..only from a forum that he also used to frequent ( mtb-.co.uk) which closed down last year ...he was known as getonyourberm on that site.
He was a supremely talented rider from what could be evidenced from the videos he posted on that site but also very humble / down to earth for one so young when it came to handing down advice to riders less talented than himself .
I learnt of this news last night from a mate in Cannock who linked in Peters Instagram write up ..to me by txt.
Paralyzed from the neck down and operating his wheelchair with his chin ..but still taking life in his stride with an amount of courage & resilience that is remarkable..would that I could show the same level of bravery in those circumstances ..but I fear that I would not .
Best wishes Peter...contribution sent .
Donated and shared on fb - good luck Pete!
Think I met Peter once or twice at the Red Kite enduros (used to ride for Whyte?).. lovely guy and quick! Donated and best wishes for your ongoing rehabilitation...
Gosh that is a terribly sad thing to happen to a vibrant talented young man clearly nuts about riding bikes.
I am so sorry to see this. I know him from the MTBE forums, and he is a lovely person. Donated.
Cripes that's a tough break. Donated.
Thank you for all your support. It's such a terrible shame that such a devastating injury happened to such a nice guy with such a promising biking career ahead of him.
Donated and shared on FB.
His race reports were a great read! All the best Pete.
Thanks again! The original target of £1000 has been well and truly broken, though personally I think that target was missing a zero for all the shell Pete is going to need in the future.
This is not not a stealth bump...
Agree with you. It would be great if it could hit the other zero. If it could be stuck to the top by the mods it would be great
No bumping here. Nothing to see. Carry on (after donating).

Over £7000 now
It would be great if it could get to £10k by the weekend and be kept on the front page
Bump
As an extra incentive to put your hand in your pocket; mtbraffles.co.uk are running a raffle for a set of Enve Carbon wheels in support of Pete Lloyd too.
Awful news. Didn't know the guy but he could be any of us... Donated.
Over 8k now, hopefully get over the 10k to help him.
Donated (bump), local lad, I never met him but saw him out and about. Horrible situation.
Used to know Pete really well before he went away to University. Even when he was a teenager on his Carerra he was as fast as ****.
Awful situation to be in.
Could be me a few times over.
Can’t seem to think of anything to say that comes across right, just that things like this make you reassess what you think of as a set back in life need to be put in perspective.
Thoughts are with you bud.
I’m trying to donate, it won’t let me.
I’ll try from laptop later.
Donated.
Wishing him the best for the future.

This story has now been picked up by the Daily Record in Scotland and I hope some national coverage will keep the donations coming to help Pete and his family.
Donated.
I remember Pete from the UK Gravity Enduros and his videos posted on here. His love and passion for the sport really stood out.
It looks like the MTB is really starting to support him during his recovery. I can't see much input from Whtye Bikes GB considering they sponsored him during is the time in the Enduros.
I've shared my post on Instagram with them but can someone do the same on FB as I don't have an account?
Has also hit MBR pages on Google which should give the fundraising another nudge in the right direction..

Can't share direct to their page so have tagged them in another post.
Thanks DirkPitt.
I just hope he gets all the support he needs to aid his recover
Donated , good luck for the future fella.
Not far off the 10k now
Donated and shared. Well over the 10k mark.
