[Closed] Ride starting in Hebden Bridge tomorrow?

I am probably being a bit selfish considering that a lot of damage will have been done in Hebden over the last couple of days, so apologies in advance if this seems insensitive.

However, this is STW and it is about riding, so maybe I'm OK asking(?)

I am due to be riding around Calderdale tomorrow (Sun 24th June) and meeting in the middle of Hebden Bridge.

Is this likely to be impossible as it stands - I've seen a photo from 11-30pm last night and it doesn't look good.

I will have a two hour drive to get there, will it be a wasted trip?

I'd say it will be very difficult, can't see it being flooded still but it will be very very very muddy

very very very muddy

Thats on the main road through Tod. Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd - they will be busy cleaning that up this weekend . Bit selfish to get in the way ?

The A646 is sort of open at Mytholmroyd but the traffic is horrendous as the mud is still being cleared.
There are ways around but these are really conjested, probably because people dont know how to use passing places and their cars are not allowed within 3ft of the wall on their side of the road 🙄

A better bet may be to postpone your ride.

Wait a couple of weeks until town is sorted and trails dry enough you won't trash them.

Then come and enjoy your ride in better conditions and afterwards support local cafes and business by spending a bit of cash in town.

Everyone's a winner that way 🙂

Got to admit I'm wondering how things are at STW Towers given that they're all down at Mountain Mayhem at the moment.

Evidently the office has survived...

@singletrackmag: Early indications are the the ST office has escaped flooding. Water up to just below windows canal side but didn’t get in

It was a bog before the last two days.

You'd be better going somewhere more hard packed like Lee Quarry although I bet bits are underwater up there too.

Lol Passat estate but not me.

I imagine some of the trails are more like rivers but its clearing quickly.

Many of the businesses are open people were clearing from the early hours this morning.

The areas open though.

To some extent using those businesses is one of the best things that can be done, those that are open need the trade, and it rewards the effort of the many people and business owners who have worked so hard to keep the town open

Its England. Its not a flat land its hilly. Drive over from Howarth or over tops to heptonstall and stay on that side. i.e Blue pig etc.

Sorry its not 'your' trails its everyones and its muddy most of the time up in the steep hills.

Saying all that I wouldnt drive two hours to get there. 4hrs total?

U dont mean to come across as combative but if you parked on the tops I dont think youd be in the way.

Spent the day cleaning shops on Market St. Horrendous mud in many shops but I don't think that'll necessarily be the same on all the trails.

There are quite a few cafes closed - some that don't seem badly affected otherwise still had no power. Lovely Copa House will need a full refit but Organic House across the road was fine (kitchen upstairs, minimal water). Mooch shut but the Watergate Tearooms open. Country stores which does pasties on the square was open.

If you need a nice knitted shrug Makepiece was just above the tide mark. However despite opening today only had people in interested in discussing our near miss rather than buying anything...

Nicked off facebook but this was Hebden main street last night:

Suggest you stay away until stuff is sorted... Glad I live at the top of a hill! Although I did nip down to Copley last night in the car and there were rapids cascading down the side of the road and Wakefield Rd under the railway bridges was under a good couple of foot of water.
