I am looking to purchase a Ribble Audax/Winter 7005. I suffer from a bad lower bad as a result of riding a bike that is to small for me thus I want to ensure that I get the correct frame size. My inside leg is 94cm and refereing to the Ribble sizing guide I would be a 64cm frame, do you believe this to be the correct frame size?

Thanks

Jamie

If you get a bad back then go and get a proper bike fit, guessing isnt the best way to go about things.

Leg length is irrelevant anyway, its the length of your top half that matters.

As david says its the reach which is more important as long as the seat tube is not too short/long - You can also adjust reach with the saddle, stem, collars and bars i.e. fine tuning!

I wouldnt purchase a bike without sitting on it first or similar set up anyhow.

Without doing too much Ribble bashing, because I like my Terry Dolan Ribble it annoyed the hell out of me recently when I couldnt even get a telephone number for the shop when I had a query.

You can also adjust reach with the saddle

Its best not to do this, you need to set the saddle in the correct position for your legs.

The reach should be adjusted with the stem/top tube length.

David - I was suggesting different saddle length can help adjust it i.e. being able to slide forward and back if you get my meaning 🙂 Obviously your hip to cleat position is important - however I certainly move forward and back depending on required position i.e. on drops, climbing or cruising?

I couldnt even get a telephone number for the shop when I had a query.

Its on the website?

TT on the 62cm is 58cm, TT on the 64cm is 59cm.

What is your reach Jamie? Finger tip to finger tip, arms outstretched (use a wall and a ruler).

The reason we're asking, is a 64cm seems huge, even in traditional roadie frame geometry, given the chap is only what 6'2"?

The ribble phone number is on the website.

😆

I wasn't going to mention the misaligned/bent/mis-sold frames I encountered on as a mechanic. 😉

A mechanic for Ribble or other? Any more than any other mechanic? Just the yin to your yang 🙂 Sorry not a die hard Ribble Fan but have no issues with them myself 🙂

As adivced by Ribble cycles themselves.

"At 6ft2” the 64cms is definitely the size we recommend and have done so based on years of experience."

Can one argue with this? Weighing whether it's worth making the trip up to Preston tomorrow from Bristol, for the sake of a couple of cm's!

I'm 6'2" and have a 58cm ribble audax. 64 sounds huge.

Im 6'2", and looking at the geometry chart on the ribble website I'd probably buy a 60cm or 62cm

I see mine is on the smaller size compared with my Ribble Sportive so adjusting for that (i.e. I should be a 58 in the 7005 - you are probably a 62 (0.2cm off the recommended top tube length for your height on the ribble sportive which I also have). So I'd personally go for the 62 myself?

If you already have a road bike - measure the horizontal TT length and that will give you are more accurate judge?

I recently built up a Ribble and although i have now sold it on (just dont get on with road bikes), it was a lovely frame which i thought was made well.
