My reverb won't hold air, when I pump it I can hear the air escaping. It a non- stealth version and the air is coming out near or from the valve. It's out of warranty unfortunately.
Can I fix this with the basic service kit, or am I better sending it away for a full service? I have serviced my forks and rear shox before so I'm not afraid of tinkering.
Pump on properly? Check the valve core isn't loose.
Pump is on properly. I will try tightening the valve core.
And, just checking, you are using a proper shock pump?
Yes I am using a shock pump ๐
The valve core is tight, however I noticed when trying to tighten it that the base of the shock post (the part held in by the circlip) is spinning, so I guess that is loose. There is also oil leaking so presumably this may be the cause of the air leak?
Chances are that the basic service kit will sort it out - it has the o-rings for the inner seal head which is probably where it's leaking. The bit held in by the circlip doesn't seal anything, and is free to turn, so normal (it has a breather hole in which is probably where the air is coming out, but the leak is internal).
If you're carefull not to pull the main piston out when you remove the inner seal head, you won't have to do anything with the oil. (N.B. if the post is sagging, the main piston may get forced out by air pressure anyway.)
Yes, the air is coming out of the breather hole. I'll get the basic kit and give it a go.
Thanks
