This is parked up outside work today. I think it is fairly amusing that we get to see lots of expensive modern bikes with top end groupsets and fancy bits on them here but this old thing raised more interest.

I used to have one of those! Exact same model, 24" or so.
(what did happen to it .. ?)
Nicely slammed saddle. I'm surprised he went to the trouble of chaining it up.
biopace rings. pretty fancy stuff.
that's not retro, it's just a tatty old bike
Dual brake levers, hi-rise stem; just like Merckx used to ride. And secured by chaining two spokes to the bike rack.
Jameso, if you want another one I could probably "acquire" one fairly easily ๐
Don't let specialized see it.

I'm going to hazard that it's Reynolds 501 main tubes.
My first 'decent' road bike was a Puch with said tubes. I thought it was the bolx back in 1985/6 ๐
It's just the same as most of today's carbon road bikes:
A cheap copy of a genuine racing bike designed to appeal to those who wish they were real bicycle racers.
They used to be marketed at children though, not middle aged men.

Is that a dropper post?
