WHen inserting new pistons I can only get them in half way. Any ideas? Should they be able to be inserted all the way in by hand pressure or do they have to be forced? Is it more likely that the seals have come free?

Only ever done it with new seals and pistons but it was hard to get them past the seals. lay the piston on some wood and lean on it.
You need some rubber grease. If you use standard stuff it will knacker the O rings and make them swell. Just put a light smear around the new piston and it will go in very easily.
Reading that back I've just realised it is unintentionally double-entendre-tastic
Ah, got them in with some 'persuasion' but used standard silkolene grease! Guess they are going to get sticky pretty quickly?
