Is replacing the bearings on a HTII BB easy?

I'm guessing it would be a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

Easy to do. YOu have to find the right size bearings tho - they actually vary slightly between different manufacturers

cruzheckler - cheers but in Bucks.

They are Shimano.

Any ideas if any instructions exist which will also include details of required tools?

As TJ said, the bearings Shimano use are narrower than std ones. Even so I stuck them in & just did away with one of the spacers either side. Has been working fine for few months. Be gentle with the "top-hats" as they split easily.
