Replacing a 2016 Jeffsy - but what with?

I have an original Jeffsy. It's an awesome bike and with the ludicrous spec it came with it hardly bothers the scales, coming in a a shade under 27lbs. It has served me well, and I've replaced a few things - two sets of bearings, 11-speed X01 replaced with 12-speed XT, but it is showing its age. The rims are very narrow by modern standards, the head angle is steep, the seat tube is slack and I know (by riding mates bikes) more modern geo rides much better.

So it's time to get something else - but what? I'm closer to 70 than 60 so I don't really shred the gnarr. I will admit to liking light bikes. I have other bikes, so the main usage for this will be trail centres (Cannock, FoD, CyB, Degla, NyA) and maybe the occasional Peak ride. I have a few ideas in my head, but I'm interested in what you lot think, particularly from anyone who has moved on from a first gen Jeffsy.

Orbea Occam is the first thing that comes to mind for a light trail bike

Canyon Spectral seems like the modern equivalent IMO

Or if you're on a budget, you could probably pick up a much more modern frame for £500-ish and move your bits across?

Cotic FlareMax, although may not exactly hit your lightweight requirement

Only medium left and no mention of budget but definitely worth a look at %44 discount

That wasn't on my list but looks interesting. I was thinking of going shorter travel rather than longer but that certainly ticks a few boxes.

no mention of budget

Budget not really an issue, within reason.

Keep 'em coming!

In the traditional STW spirit of recommend what you have, what about a Mondraker Raze. I've got the 2024 carbon R which has been superb. Done 80+km xc rides on it, a round of the Southern Enduro and days at BPW with nothing more than a change of tyres.

Looks like there is still some stock of it too as Freeborn where I bought it from have it for £3k

Bikes have got way more capable in the last decade so you could get away with a downcountry style bike quite easily. I recently got a Rocky Mountain Element and it's very capable. The only thing is that to keep it lightweight it needs to be a fairly high end build

If you are large-sized, you might want to snap this up for £2k...

Spectral, or Spectral 125 - anyone ridden both?

When looking for similar I ended up with a Transition Spur. Absolutely superb bike, light and capable. Next choice was a Specialized Epic Evo.

Plenty of cheap Orange Stage Evo's about too at Sunset MTB and Winstanley's. My bigger bike's an Orange and that's ace too.

Spur was may first thought or if budget allows Atherton A130 might fit . I really like the look of the commencel tempo but I think they might have a few build quality issues .

I know downcountry was a bit of a joke and seems to have gone away now but that description and style of bike struck a chord with me and I think my next bike will be something along those lines .

What about an, erm.... Jeffsy?

Not currently shipping to the UK, but will be.

Probably/definitely better off paying on CC in case they go pop - again.

And future warranty, who knows - I can't say I've ever had to warranty a bike though.

They do look nice...

Had a 2016 Capra. Was a great bike, but sold it when I bought my Kenevo as it just wasn't getting used
