I have an orange 5. On their website the optimum fork is 140mm. Would replacing the fork with a 160mm make the handling worse. A longer travel fork would slacken head angle, so going downhill should feel better?

Personally ive done this twice and the bike always felt better at 140. 160 slackened the front end out too much imo.

Just about to switch my 5 from 140 Floats to 150 Pikes, tried a 160 equipped bike and it's all over the place on the climbs. Thankfully the Floats and Pikes are very close A-C (less than 2mm when placed back-to-back) so should be the best compromise for my riding.

Yes it will slacken it but also raises the bb height so doesn't necessarily make the bike feel better downhill.

Could you fit a slack set also? Might be too slack though.

I've only briefly ridden a Five with 160mm, I didn't think it worked brilliantly- the geometry's really well designed around the 140mm fork. But it wasn't horrible, just a wee bit less good. Having said that, the boy who owned it was winning enduro races all over the shop so apparently it worked!
