got a split in the sidewall of a (fairly) new tyre the other day. I'm loath to chuck it, so I was planning on patching the inside of it and sealing the split with superglue, that will work..won't it??

It may do, the superglue needs rubber to glue too I think.
Patches stretch so may be worth stitching or using a non stretch tubeless patch.

I had a similar problem, used a tubeless patch and it seem to be holding out just fine. Only a month mind you.

I mended mine like this, stitch it up and glue a patch over the stitching on the inside. 🙂
