Hey- It's my birthday. So what would be a decent repair/ workstand to go for? It does not need to be foldable, but the ability to move it outside to work in the sunlight would be nice.

Suggestions?

I got a Minoura w300, IIRC, from Hafords a few years ago and still pleased with it

I've got a Lifeline Elite team stand from Wiggle. Only £80.00 and I would highly recommend it.

I've got a Park one that must be 12 years old or thereabouts. Brilliant.

I got the Minoura W3100 ( http://www.zyro.co.uk/brand/MINOURA/MINOURA/MI690W310/W-3100.aspx) after it got a gold star in Singletrack. You can get it significantly cheaper than the RRP suggests.

I wanted one with a metal clamp after my friend got one with a plastic clamp. I had little confidence in it and with the lever being made of plastic showed signs of wear early on.

He spent almost as much as I did on the Minoura which has a very solid and confidence inspiring clamp.

I've had one of the cheaper plastic clamp workstands but they do deteriorate over time (although it got some use), got a Park Home Mechanic one now, £110 from merlin, excellent quality clamp and stand.
