Members of the collective,

If you were looking to rent out a room, where would you advertise?
Alternatively, and hopefully with the same answer, if you were looking to rent a room, where would you look?

Ta.

I got a fine tenant through Gumtree.

said he'd seen a right dodgy place with a ranting older landlord in Leith though ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've had lovely tennants through gumtree and easy roommate. However I've just moved out from a werido whos room i found on easy room mate, and had some decidedly odd people turn up from both websites.

Sit them down and have a long chat over a cup of tea, still might not filter all the nutters out!

I think some of it depends whereabouts you are as well - city/countryside etc.
