New video up from Remy Metallier, along with Geoff Gulevich. Alongside some of the great biking and cracking scenery we've come to expect from this type of video, Remy also has a pretty nasty interface with a tree, and spends a bit of time reflecting on how his choices contributed to the crash. I found it a useful reminder that 'awesome skills' is only one element in the process of how these guys and girls ride the stuff they do, and make it look so effortless.
Yeah saw it the other day. Fairly innocuous crash really but he took quite a whack to the face.
I think it's shaken him up enough to think about full face lids according to another of his videos.
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. I watched his first run down and was surprised to see the trail bend left after what looked like a shark fin on the end of the preceding right hander and thought then 'you could end up in trouble if you launched that' 😬
I know this sounds bad, but it’s kind of nice to see that even super-humans like Remy can crash. Sometimes I’ve actually avoided his videos, because he’s just soooooo good that what he does doesn’t seem to bear any resemblance to what I do (mediocre trail riding). I’m glad he’s ok. He really seems like a top bloke. But he’s clearly from another planet in terms of skill and ability.
The star of the kayaking World died 2 weeks ago, Bren Orton. He was one of those (few) people who could go down a 30 metre waterfall not just dropping down, but twisting their boat, while dropping and land perfectly. He could get out of any situation with just a flick of his hips, but, unfortunately, he too was caught out in the worst possible way, caught in a ’stopper’ a recirculating wave of water that just churns away, and is very difficult to get out of.

I completely understand what you’re getting at, but he also fractured some vertebrae a couple of years ago. Consequences are always worth considering.
