Are they not held on with two tiny screws? if so remove and silicone the holes up.

seem to be an integral part of the design ie there moulded into the main part of the shifter. I suppose a cut and silicon job may work.

SLX come with a little disc (behind the indicator assembly).

Did you throw the indicators away when/if you did this? I broke my indicator when I replaced the cable on my 9spd rear Deore shifter and I begrudge buying another shifter when it's sweet apart from the lack of indicator. ๐ก
