Si I decided today at last to set about striping my old orange p7 with a view to rebuilding at as a winter project.

Stripped it all down then moved on to the chainset. Last time it was in the bike shop, a few years ago, the guy tried to remove the chainset to replace the bb and the drive side crank bolt was seized in place, which ended up with a slightly rounded bolt.

Anyway I knew this was going to give me an issue. Non drive side crank arm came off fine. Tried drilling out the bolt and but even with a new drill bit I'm still not getting very far. Apart from keep drilling, any other suggestions? Oh and the threads are stripped on the crank arm so even when I get the bolt out getting the cranks off will be an issue. Could I be in a position where I just can't get the cranks/bb out and the frame is scrap.

Oh I have an angle grinder btw.

Yeh I'm thinking that but I don't think there's enough space between the bb shell to get at it. I'm scrapping the cranks anyway. May fire up the grinder tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‰

As the cranks are scrap just cut them off. The heat that generates will probably help with getting the bb out too.

Job done. Got the cranks off with the angle grinder and the drive side of the bottom bracket wasn't as seized as I expected. Non drive side teeth broke on the collar but its only plastic and that came out with a chisel.

Only thing to do now is decide which colour to get the frame powder coated - top 5 are olive green, mauve, battleship grey, orange, brown.

Thanks for your suggestions.
