OK, so it couldnt be clearer in the Rockshox video and instructions. I've removed all the air, loosened both nuts 3 or 4 turns and tapped with a plastic mallet.
The non dual air released immediately, but the dual air side wont. The lowers wont remove and I cant tighten this side again to try hitting a second time, as the instructions suggest.
Luckily this was just an experiment before returning to TFT for some TLC after a long Alps trip (I wanted to check how much oil was left in the lowers), but it's frustrating. Any ideas?
