I have an old tyre I ran tubeless for several years. Now retired from the main bike and I want to use it on the tandem (where the wheels aren't tubeless - yet). Previously I've just peeled off the old latex, but it's stuck solid to this one - anything I can use to help get it off (which won't dissolve the tyre)?
Warm water & scouring pad.
Only time I tried to scrub the latex off it took some of the liner off the inside of the tyre.
if it's dry and you'll be runnign a tube I'd just leave the latex alone.
It can take a while, I did it to a pair early this year, took me ages
just cover it with Talc and put it on the rim, why bother removing the latex?
Thanks for the replies - I'll go with removing the thick bits which are easy to get off and leave the rest. Mainly wanted to get it off to make it easier to find any embedded thorns which the latex had sealed but would puncture a tube.
