Help needed pls. These are Sram fitting cranks (unbranded). Replaced BB with a hollowtech one I had & LBS fitted the GXP to hollow tech converter needed all ok. Now wanna install new GXP BB, gone to remove cranks by undoing the two bolts & the cranks arm just won't move off, am I doing something wrong need another tool etc. Tried a light tap with a mallet still no movement & reluctant to give it the full whallop just in case or this what's required ?

Mine was self extracting, just undo the bolt and the head pushed against an insert in the crank to push the crank off IIRC.

There's two bolts one on the inside (is this the insert u refer to) & the external one in the pic - is it just the external one I undo or both of them ?

No idea I'm afraid, mine looked like this

[edit]

You mean one inside the other? The 'insert' i was refering to is the bigger of the two bolts, the main bolt sits inside it. Leave the bigger/outer one alone and undo the inner/smaller one. Normally the outer/bigger one is threaded the other way so that undoing the inner bolt normally doesn't unscrew it which is why the outer one won't move, unless you hit it really hard and strip it!

8mm one on the inside extracts the crank , don't take the 10mm outer one off .

If it's anything like mine the outer one will be made of cheese and crumble when you undo the inner bolt. Then you need a good old crank extractor.
