pilers, mole grips or a massive slotted screwdriver.

Are you talking about the chainring bolts?

Massive screwdriver, steel ruler used as a massive screwdriver, try and grip the slippery buggers with a mole grip. None will work if they are too tight or corroded.

In which case, drill them out and buy new ones.

Or what MrJesus said as I was typing. ๐Ÿ˜€

TBH, you're better off with the tool. However, if you just insert your wrench and turn it will generally loosen enough for you to press your thumb against the nut to stop it spinning and allow you to remove the bolt. I do it regularly as there's usually enough friction on the rings/nut interface to allow you to do this. I only really use the tool to tighten.

If they're seized you might have problems.

Alternatively borrow the tool - I'm just about to set off for a spin out - do you want me to drop it off on way past?
I'll be setting off in about 5 mins so post quick... ๐Ÿ™‚
