SE Crank bolt from a truvativ crank to be exact.
Sheered on tonight's ride, removed the bit from the spindle but attepts to remove the rest from the crank failed badly.
Is there a way to proceed (they are on the list to be replaced but ideally not yet)??

No its the bit of the Self Extracting bolt that holds the bolt into the crank arm. Its totally flush. I have doubtful feelings...
EDIT - SE on a GXP crankset I should add.

If head is off, then no reason you can't remove axle.
Gives you two options, I can think of
1. Place in vice, with two blocks of wood with "V" notch cut in each side. To protect and hold securely. Drill pilot hole in bolt and use stud extractor, from Halfords/B&Q etc.
2. Take to local engineering firm and get it done by them.
Edit bolt is hollow so option one no pilot hole needed
So the bit that screws into the crank arm is rounded off?
Steel? I'd tig weld something to it and unscrew it.
yeah, of the link above its the shallow wider of the two bolts.
er, if the bigger bit is stuck in the crank arm, how did you get the middle bolt out?
most of it was in the spindle. The rest is still in there.
Are you on about the 16mm hex cap or the actual 8mm hex bolt?

Not totally sure, but I think it may have a left hand thread (prevents it unscrewing when loosening the crank bolt), so you may well be tightening it when trying to remove it.
No point anymore. Tried hammering things into it, but its really stuck, and now looks horrific, too horrific to post a pic of. Its stud extractor or dremels only for this one I think. Got a big flat head in, but when turned it just tore the topcap like plasticine. worrying bit was how far gone it was before it snapped. I've been riding Stainburn on that...
They're old cranks from 2007, top cap is 10mm, the with an 8mm underneath. Its the top cap that's effed.
Must remember to buy some nice SLXs when I'm next well off. Sick of GXP stuff.
@coatesy, yeah top caps are reverse threaded.
Can you get such a thing as a reverse threaded Stud extractor, i.e. - normal threaded.
